Julie has been taking photographs for twenty years. Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, her first photographs were of the Flatirons, the Rocky Mountains, and other natural landscapes. The main focus was colour and texture: the various shades of a smooth blue sky against a fresh blanket of powdery snow; or soft autumn leaves against a nubby Aspen tree trunk.

Five years of living in New York City introduced many urban themes to Julie's body of work. In July 2003, she moved to Sydney, Australia, leading to a new focus on the rich colours of the Australian sky and landscape.
